ABOUT JAY LENO'S GARAGE ON CNBC
Hosted by legendary comedian and “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno, the series explores our obsession with all things automotive. From classic cars to supercars and everything in-between, Jay is hitting the road to discover the most exciting, weird and wonderful vehicles ever made and meet the passionate people behind their wheels. Each one-hour themed episode features a mix of stunts, challenges, reviews, and celebrity interviews that showcases the colorful history of the automobile. Whether he’s exploring the story of an iconic brand, road-testing the newest super car, or investigating the latest automotive innovations, there is no wheel Jay won’t get behind to tell the story of our love affair with the car.
About Jay Leno: Acclaimed TV late night show host, admired stand-up comedian, best-selling children’s book author, much-in-demand corporate speaker, lovable TV and movie voice-over artist, pioneering car builder and mechanic, and philanthropist…it’s no wonder that Jay Leno is widely characterized as “the hardest working man in show business.”

Hey Jay long time fan, first time responder. I'm watching your show i noticed on the strawberry continental and the Porsche you were guessing the mileage 1 or 2 times around the clock? Something I used to do when buying an old ride for transportation "when the numbers are all straight like perfectly straight that's the first time around once it passes 100,000 mark the numbers no longer line up, something I picked up along the way. Used to help me get a ride with some life left in her back in the day.

I know it’s not the Black Shadow but Richard Thompson loved bikes too: Says Red Molly, to James, "Well that's a fine motorbike. A girl could feel special on any such like." Says James, to Red Molly, "My hat's off to you. It's a Vincent Black Lightning, 1952. And I've seen you on the corners and cafes, it seems. Red hair and black leather, my favorite color scheme." And he pulled her on behind, And down to Boxhill, They'd Ride. Says James, to Red Molly, "Here's a ring for your right hand. But I'll tell you in earnest I'm a dangerous man; For I've fought with the law since I was seventeen. I've robbed many a man to get my Vincent machine. And now I'm twenty-one years, I might make twenty-two. And I don't mind dyin' but for the love of you. But if fate should break my stride, then I'll give you my Vincent, To Ride." "Come down…

Don't know if this was mentioned before - the front brake drum has a stencil in the shape of the Swiss national flag on it, so that's probably a detail conjured up by Fritz Egli who ist still alive (*1937ish). Greetings from Switzerland :-)

I grew up in Stevenage, where the Vincents were manufactured. In fact I went to Alleyne's School in the Old Town. The school was founded in 1558 and was next door to the Vincent factory. After the factory closed in 1955, the school bought the plot and so Vincent became part of Alleyne's. Across the road was a motorcycle shop run by George Brown and his brother Cliff, who both worked at the Vincent factory. George had 37 world speed records from his two Vincent powered bikes, Nero and Super Nero (supercharged). Those bikes stood proudly in the window of his shop, on either side of the entrance door. I would be found in the shop most lunchtimes, chatting with George. I must have been a right nuisance but he always had time for a school kid who loved Vincents, 20 years after the last one was made. George and Cliff are long gone now but Nero and Super Nero can be found in the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull. Thanks for a great video.

My first bike was a 1979 Triumph Bonneville 750 purchased from Redline Motorcycles in Santa Barbara. John had a Vincent Black Shadow in his front window. God what a beautiful motorcycle. My Triumph was setup as a cafe racer with Norton Dunstall mufflers. Drop handlebars and a dust bin fairing completed the picture. It was agile but fellow riders worried at how the rear end would hop around. Always went where I pointed it and at a fast pace.

That is a super cool bike. When I turned 50 I bought a 400 thumper dirt bike. I got tired of dirt and started ridding more on the street and mountain roads. I kept seeing all these guys ridding the lay down type bikes so I test drove a Suzuki SV 650. It was a super fun bike but I found the ridding position was to tiring. I would leave the house in the morning with plans of having lunch in some far away mountain town but never completed it. By lunch time I was back home and ready for a nap. hehehe

Sadly these bikes have gotten so valuable that I do not know of anyone in the family who even has any parts in their possession. It's a crosby steam gage in a storage box .I've no idea what it's worth. Or how to use it. I've also got molds to make fender flares for a Matra D Jet. Ya it's strange set of things lol. But if you know anyone who be interested please contact me.
