ABOUT JAY LENO'S GARAGE ON CNBC
Hosted by legendary comedian and “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno, the series explores our obsession with all things automotive. From classic cars to supercars and everything in-between, Jay is hitting the road to discover the most exciting, weird and wonderful vehicles ever made and meet the passionate people behind their wheels. Each one-hour themed episode features a mix of stunts, challenges, reviews, and celebrity interviews that showcases the colorful history of the automobile. Whether he’s exploring the story of an iconic brand, road-testing the newest super car, or investigating the latest automotive innovations, there is no wheel Jay won’t get behind to tell the story of our love affair with the car.
About Jay Leno: Acclaimed TV late night show host, admired stand-up comedian, best-selling children’s book author, much-in-demand corporate speaker, lovable TV and movie voice-over artist, pioneering car builder and mechanic, and philanthropist…it’s no wonder that Jay Leno is widely characterized as “the hardest working man in show business.”

Dear Jay, You "need" to meet a locksmith that could change every locked compartment to a single, key-system. You're "busy" enough to Not have to have the "aggravation" of a different key for each compartment, plus if you ever sold the car, they could all be changed back, PLUS, What if you ever have a FIRE, again, and you lose precious time fumbling-around to find the right-key for the compartment you wish to open? I think you should change the lights @ the front to matching Woodlights, but perhaps those would make the car look too "sinister." Distilled-water should allow you to avoid all corrosion "issues". Distilled-water is 80 cents a gallon, in Arizona. Your water-system piping could be "impregnated"with sealants on the inside, so you'd Never put a finger through a pipe, again. The Duesy is "Fab to the Max", but I think the Marmon-16s are the "Top" to me, plus I think fewer were made. A Nash straight-8 with its dual-plug ignition, is still periodically raced @ Bonneville, although it was not as "sophisticated" as the Duesy, the Nash being OHV, like the Buick-8 of the Era. The Pierce [Arrow] was impressive, its V-12s in Seaberry Fire Engines, more than 20 years after Pierce autos were gone. The Argus air-cooled Straight-8 was used in thousands of Fiesler "Storches", the French/others continue-ing to make them after the war, but some didn't like them because the "Storch" was always "STOL-ing".

Jay, do you own a Cord? My opinion is that the Cords were some of the most sleek, beautifully designed cars of their era! My personal favorite production year was the '37 Cord! I live about 10 miles from Auburn, Indiana and of course there is the Annual ACD Festival each year there. When I was a kid, some company was making a polymer body material to replace the body panels on a Cord that was nearly industructable. If memory serves, It was a molded material that if it WAS bent or damaged, in an accident, it could be heated to a certain temperature and it would spring back to its original shape. I seem to remember it being a fairly thick material. (Approx. 1" thick.) Are you aware of this material? Or am I mistaken, and this was possibly the "original" material used on Cords, from the factory?

HEY JAY, WHAT A WONDERFUL CAR. MY DAD TOLD ME ABOUT THIS CAR AND MANY OTHERS THAT HE EITHER KNEW ABOUT OR HAD. AS A NAVAL OFFICER HE HAD A LITTLE MORE MONEY THAN MOST PEOPLE DURING THE DEPRESSION AND HE WOULD ALWAYS HAVE A NICE CAR TO DRIVE. I USED TO HAVE PICTURES OF HIM OR MY MOM NEXT TO HIS CAR WITH THE SHIP HE WAS ON IN THE BACKGROUND. I WISH I STILL HAD THOSE PICTURES BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT KIND OF CARS THEY WERE. IT'S GREAT THAT WE HAVE SOMEONE LIKE YOU THAT HAS SUCH PASSION FOR RESTORING OLD CARS THAT WOULD OTHERWISE RUST AWAY. THANK YOU FOR THAT JAY LENO.

Thanks for sharing your cars with us Jay. Most of us will never be able to own these but we can walk around them with you while you tell us all about them and then you take us for a ride. That’s great. Thanks again. 👍 If I had the big bucks I’d have a collection too. There are certain cars I’ve wanted as long as I can remember. Most are not as exotic as the cars in your collection although one of them is close. I’ve always wanted a supercharged Cord 810/812, preferably a convertible. Duesenberg isn’t one of the ones I’ve always wanted but now I want one.

Beautiful car Mr. Leno. But speaking as one of the top locksmith's in the United States before retiring 12 years ago, I'd suggest you find a locksmith who can rekey everything to one key just for convenience. Tell the locksmith to keep each lock's "guts" in a pill box so they're not lost. Just trying to be helpful, Sir. A question is- how does it shift? "Crash box"? And what is the shift pattern? Just curious

Legendary Duesenberg, respected tour-guide and personality Jay Leno, and an ongoing pandemic that's showing in the weariness of us all at this stage. They went all out on those cars during a time when being overbuilt was the best course for excellence at every turn.

During WWII my grandfather and father were in the feed and hay business. My dad mentioned a time or two that they used a Duesenberg as a tractor to pull wagon loads of hay out of the field to be reloaded onto trucks for highway transport. If I should ever come across a photo of it, I'll pass it along to you.

I always thought he was phoney/cheesy on the late night show(letterman fan) but I thoroughly enjoy these jay Leno garage videos- He really honors the cars by trying to stay as true to the original design in their restoration but also makes it a point to drive and use them as they were intended, keeping alive these old machines.
